Preschool Classrooms


   

Welcome to Preschool 1!
 (Ages 2.5 & 3)



Goals for this year:

  • The children will learn about kindness and respect for those around them; showing compassion; sharing; turn taking; and personal space.

  • We will be working on increasing their fine motor skills with activites such as playdough, learning how to hold writing utensils, coloring, and cutting.

  • The children will learn about personal and corporate responsibilities in regards to classroom organization.

  • They will learn and explore the order and wonder of God's world by investigating with real tools.

  • The children will be doing real experiments on a regular basis. Experiments such as growing mold and other plants, shinning pennies, cause and effect, and cooking.

  • The children are learning about letters and how print has meaning.  They "sign in" their names every morning to start the day.  We also do many read-alouds and point out environmental print.

  • The children are learning how to recognize and write their names.

  • The children will begin to learn American Sign Language. Some of the words/phrases that will be covered include: Mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, yes please, no thank you, your welcome, stop, and good morning.

Welcome to Preschool 2!
 (Ages 4 & 5)


Goals for this year:
  • The children will learn about kindness and respect for those around them; showing compassion; sharing; turn taking; and personal space.

  • They will be learning how to take care of our classroom, and do some things independently, such as serve themselves and clean up after themselves.

  • The children will be doing real experiments on a regular basis. Experiments such as growing mold and other plants, shinning pennies, cause and effect, and cooking.

  • They will be learning to recogize and write their names.
  • We will be working on our fine motor skills, which will help the strengthen the children’s hand and finger muscles with activities including playdough, flubber, cutting,  coloring, and writing ones name.


















Preschool Daily Schedule:


7-9: Free choice

9:10- Morning Meeting

          -Read aloud    
          -Letter of the week demonstration
       -Sign language

9:20- Centers
       -A variety of centers including: dramatic play,
        blocks, writing, puzzles, drawing, reading, and sensory.


10:15- Morning Snack

10:30- Outdoor Play

11:45- Bathroom break

12:00- Lunch

12:30- Nap

2:30- Music, Small groups, Free play

4:00- Clean up/Bathroom break/Snack

5-6- Outside -or- Quiet games until pickup
